The new (partial) picture of the Cliff released in 2001. A portion of "plowed" terrain is visible, suggesting quarried ejecta.
Ribbed gouges to the right of the Cliff suggest quarrying.
The Cliff is apparently constructed atop the ejecta blanket of the adjacent "splash"-style crater and shares alignment with the nearby Face.
High-contrast photo of the Cliff. Notice the pyramidal outcropping overlapping crater rim. There is no readily explainable way a feature like this could have formed naturally. Moreover, lines drawn through the Cliff's centerline and the small crater pyramid intersect at the Tholus at precisely 19.5 degrees, a number that occurs again and again throughout the Cydonia "complex."
The Cliff's remarkably straight "wall" as seen in the 2001 photo.
